So my inverter died after 15 years and now every solar company around me refuses to touch it. They all say they only service what they installed, which means if your original installer is out of business, your warranty is useless. The only company from back then that's still around isn't even willing to help. Replacing the inverter has turned into a full DIY project, and adding battery backup or expanding the system is a nightmare unless the original company is still in business. This is a huge problem nobody really talks about.

worked at a so called solar company and i have the answer you need. theres no profit from it. if your system was installed 15 years ago it was probably manufactured 20 years ago and those are a joke compared to the modern ones so companies have no interest in keeping parts or servicing those. to be fair neither do you the newerw ones are much better

This is also where my frustration comes in!
Solar companies should rethink their business model, and start something like trade-in programs, standardized components..
There's a lot of missed opportunity for the business and for alternative energy!

Nooo that's so bad. Have you tried looking for third-party services for this one? This is kinda unfair for you. I think you can try reaching out to a solar electrician if you can try and maybe you don't even have to replace everythinggg.

This is a pretty common issue with older solar setups. If you're diving into a DIY replacement, your best bet is to hunt down a compatible inverter with your existing panels and wiring. Don't forget to double-check the voltage, current ratings, and communication protocols. You really want to steer clear of integration problems
