Help set up PV system

Getting serious about setting up a PV system for the property. The goal in the log run is to offset most of our daytime load and keep a bit of independence from the grid, especially during peak pricing hours so we could save cost. I'm still weighing options between string inverters vs. microinverters, and whether to size for full offset now or scale gradually.
I'm not new to DIY projects, but solar brings a different kind of complexity, like the panel orientation, shading, interconnection agreements, storage or not, etc. For those who've already gone through this, what setup has worked best for your needs long term?

If you have shading issues or mixed panel angles, microinverters might be a good choice. They cost a bit more upfront but they're easier to expand and handle shade better. On the other hand string inverters are good for setups that are straigth and neat and they're cheaper to start with. Are you also considering adding storage or just looking to save on peak hours for now?

Are you leaning toward microinverters for flexibility and shading tolerance, or string inverters for cost efficiency, and have you considered whether scaling gradually might end up costing more long-term than sizing for full offset upfront?
